Tony McEwing Announced His Retirement

Tony Mcewing recently announced his retirement after working as an anchor for 43 years. On the show, he shared the news, telling everyone that he’s been bringing updates about what’s happening worldwide for the past 30 years.

McEwing expressed how grateful and lucky he feels to have had such a successful career. He continued:

“But of course, nothing lasts forever, and I think the time has come for me to finally hang up my mic after a journey that has spanned 43 years in total.”

On February 3, McEwing made his last appearance. In an interview, he said that while the exit strategy was developed a few years before, he chose to go forward after the Covid-19 epidemic. Regarding his future intentions, Tony has not made any announcements. He said, nonetheless, that he is happy now that he would have time to sleep instead of having to get up early. He said:

“I don’t have to get up at zero dark thirty. Getting up at 2 and 3 in the morning gets tougher as you get older.”

Tony McEwing was “a huge part of the fabric of this community” and an integral element of the newsroom, according to a statement from Pete Wilgoren, the acting Fox 11 news director. Wilgoren continued, saying that his coworkers will never forget him for his faultless work throughout the years.

Tony McEwing’s Impactful Journey in Journalism

Tony, who was born in the middle of the 1950s, attended Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, graduating in 1981 and going on to get a master’s degree in editorial broadcasting. After earning a Bachelor of Science in teaching, he enrolled in the law school.

When he joined Fox 11 in 1993, the audience took to his half-hour show Songs of Our Success. Throughout his career, he won seven Emmy Awards including one for Songs of Our Success. He was further honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by RTNA of Southern California.

A second half-hour show, Mission of Hope was presented by Tony McEwing and was based on LA Mission’s well-established homeless rehabilitation program. In addition, he is well-known for co-anchoring Good Day L.A. with Araksya Karapetyan, which debuted on June 18, 1993 and ran from five to ten in the morning.

He is a very hard-working person and always did a great job in his life. In 2021, he shared a tweet in which he said that he started the Midnight Mission. The Mission has been helping the poor and homeless for more than a century.

His lucrative profession as a broadcaster has contributed to his net worth, which ranges from $1 to $5 million.
