Tom Browning, a famous baseball player who made history by pitching the Reds’ only perfect game in 1988 and later helped them win a big championship, passed away on December 19, 2022.
He was 62 years old. The news of Tom’s passing was shared on Twitter by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. He died at his home in Union, Ky. Soon after the famous baseball player passed away, the Reds sent a message on Twitter. They had talked to someone from his family before sharing the statement. The club said,
“The entire Reds family is stunned and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Browning. Affectionately referred to as ‘Mr. Perfect,’ Tom was a true Red who after his playing days made the Cincinnati area his home and remained heavily involved with the organization.”
Tom Browning Cause of Death
Tom’s death is still a mystery. According to the sheriff’s office in Boone County, where Tom lived, they don’t think anyone hurt him. Tom was discovered at his home in Union, Ky., on Dec. 19 at about 1 p.m. He wasn’t breathing, and efforts to save him didn’t work. He was declared dead at 1:13 p.m.

“RIP Tom Browning. He had the best 84-86 mph high spin rate 4-seam fastball at the top of zone of any LH pitcher of his era.He threw a perfect game,won a World Championship,sat in the Wrigley Field stands during a #Reds game & took part himself during his own contract negotiations.”

Tom started playing in 1984 and retired ten years later because of a broken arm while playing for the Reds in 1994. He tried to come back the next year with the Royals but had to retire after breaking his arm again after only two games. We’re thinking of Tom’s family and friends during this tough time.
