Kurt Cobain Autopsy Report: What Was Found in Results?

It is with great sadness we say that on April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain, the lead singer and guitarist of the American rock band Nirvana was found dead at his home on Lake Washington Boulevard in Seattle, Washington.

After reviewing the evidence, a coroner and forensics experts concluded that Cobain had passed away on April 5, three days before his corpse was found.

What Was Found in Kurt Cobain’s Autopsy Report?

Cobain was discovered with a shotgun across his body, an apparent gunshot wound to the head and a suicide note nearby, according to the Seattle Police Department incident report.

Kurt Cobain died nearly 30 years ago and one private investigator has spent the last three decades following the case of Kurt Cobain. He shared a tweet and claimed this was the official autopsy report of Kurt. Grant has claimed that the autopsy report he acquired is real, but he has been quiet about where he got it.

The autopsy report wasn’t released to the public when the Nirvana frontman took his own life in 1994 because of Washington state laws that prohibit disclosing that type of information. 

In addition to confirming that Cobain committed suicide by shooting himself, the report shared by Tom Grant cites a toxicology analysis that found a variety of chemicals in his blood at the moment of his death, the most significant of which was morphine.

This leaked report also reads that Cobain had used multiple drugs at the time of his death including Valium and heroin. Have a look at the tweet provided below:

Where Was Kurt Cobain’s Memorial Services Held?

On April 10, 1994, a public memorial service was held at Seattle Center, where a recording of Courtney Love reading Cobain’s suicide note was played. Near the end of the vigil, Love arrived and distributed some of his clothing to the remaining admirers.

Combain was cremated. Love split his remains; she placed some in an urn and others in a teddy bear. She also sent some of his ashes to Ithaca, New York’s Namgyal Buddhist Monastery. As part of the ritual blessing, Buddhist monks combined some of his bones with clay and used the mixture to create tsatsas.

The mother of Kurt Cobain organized a funeral for him on May 31, 1999, and Love and Tracy Marander were among those who paid their respects. Frances Bean Cobain, Kurt Cobain’s daughter, dropped his ashes into McLane Creek in Olympia, Washington, the place where he “had found his true artistic muse,” while a Buddhist monk chanted.

Note: Kurt Cobain was an iconic figure of the 90s and his death in 1994 was a shock to the world. However, many questions remain unanswered such as why Cobain took his own life and why he had such a high level of heroin in his system.
