In shows like MTV’s The Challenge, contestants usually don’t expect to find love. But sometimes, it happens anyway. In Season 39, we saw Horacio Gutiérrez Jr. and Nurys Mateo grow close, as well as some sparks between Moriah Jadea (real name Moriah Jade Andrychowski) and James Lock. Are Moriah and James Still Together?

Sparks flew when Moriah Jade from Florida and James Lock from London met on The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion. Moriah, who had previously competed in Season 38 The Challenge: Ride or Dies, was back for her second shot at the competition.

James, on the other hand, brought his experience from shows like The Only Way Is Essex, Celebrity Ex on the Beach UK 2, and The Challenge: UK. Throughout the season, viewers caught a few moments of their romance as they snuggled together in the house. However, it appeared that most people weren’t cheering for them.

Basically, it turns out Moriah and James aren’t officially dating, and they’re not exclusive. Moriah shared this on MTV’s Official Challenge Podcast, clarifying that it wasn’t because of haters or anything like that. She explained,

“Me and James, we literally talk almost every day.We talk on the phone a few hours, we catch up. But, in reality, he lives in London. So far. Yes, he’ll come here and hang out, but, it’s really hard. You can’t make anything progress when you live so far. It’s just too long of a flight. But, do I really care for James and think he’s a great guy? Yeah. Me and him are good.”

Moriah & James Navigate Love and Distance

Moriah Jadea and James Lock were there for each other during The Challenge Season 39. Moriah shared on MTV’s Official Challenge Podcast that they talked about being together outside the show, but the distance made it too hard to make it work. She admitted to the podcast,

“When you’re in the house, you know if things are gonna work or if they’re not gonna work. I knew they were not gonna work. And I feel like maybe he knew that too. But, listen, if we lived in the same state, he would be my fricking BFF. We would be hanging out all the time, doing everything. But distance really does take a toll on things. I think he’s kind of like me. I don’t need to be with anyone that bad. It’s too much effort for me, and I think it’s too much effort for him, too.”
