Pamela and Averion Hurts are the parents of Jalen Hurts. Averion Hurts and Pamela Hurts set the groundwork for their son’s football-focused upbringing and Super Bowl-bound career. Jalen said of his parents during a pre-Super Bowl press conference:

“I have a foundation kind of set for myself, but my parents did that for me and I think being a coach’s kid, they created habits for me to see things a certain way, have the wisdom that I have, and I give all the credit to them.”

Like his son, Averion was a star athlete in college, attending Howard Payne University on a scholarship to play football and track. There, he flourished, being named an All-Conference offensive lineman as a senior and winning six track and field All-American titles.

In 1990, he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Pamela pursued a career in teaching as well and has much experience in the sector. Like her husband, she was employed by the Channelview District in Texas and had a bachelor’s degree in business administration as well as a master’s degree in counseling.

She was the math special education teacher for grades 6–8 at Anthony Aguirre Junior High, where she also held the position of Special Services Department Chair. It’s unknown whether she teaches there anymore.
