John Kennedy’s autopsy photos consist of 52 black-and-white images that were taken by two photographers: John Stringer and Robert Knudsen.
They show the president’s body from various angles and perspectives, focusing on his head, neck, chest and back wounds. What Was Found in John Kennedy’s Autopsy Report?
Burkley signed a death certificate on November 23 and noted that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the skull. Kennedy was shot twice, according to the autopsy. One passed through his upper back and out of his neck, however behind a tracheotomy.
Kennedy was hit by the second round in the rear of the head, which left a sizable exit wound in the front of his skull. The former bullet was not found during the autopsy but was discovered at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Attorney General Ramsey Clark of the United States assembled a medical panel in 1968 to review the autopsy’s photos and X-rays. The panel agreed with the Warren Commission’s assessment that Kennedy was shot twice before dying.

Where Was John Kennedy’s Autopsy Reports Performed?
The 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy, had an autopsy conducted at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. On November 22, 1963, the day Kennedy was assassinated, the autopsy started at approximately 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) and ended early on November 23, 1963.
Since President Kennedy served as a Navy officer during World War II, his widow, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, selected the Bethesda Autopsy Hospital in the Washington, D.C. region.
The autopsy was conducted by two physicians, Commander James Humes and Commander J. Thornton Boswell. They were assisted by ballistics wound expert Pierre Finck of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.
Who Killed John Kennedy?
The 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated on November 22, 1963, while driving in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. After the shooting, Kennedy’s limousine brought him to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was fatally shot from the nearby Texas School Book Depository by former U.S. Marine Lee Harvey Oswald. He shot the president on November 22, 1963, from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository in Dallas using a gun he had ordered by mail.
Later that day, he was taken into custody and accused of killing Kennedy as well as J.D. Tippit, a Dallas police officer, whom he had also slain not long after the assassination.
Why Did Lee Harvey Oswald Kill John Kennedy?
The reason why Oswald killed Kennedy is not clear, as he never confessed or explained his motive. Some have speculated that he was a lone gunman who acted out of resentment, anger or mental instability. Others have suggested that he was part of a larger conspiracy, involving the Soviet Union, Cuba, the Mafia, the CIA or even Vice President Lyndon Johnson.
These theories have been fueled by various inconsistencies, anomalies and controversies surrounding the assassination. The real reason behind John’s murder is not yet confirmed.
