Colin Edward Blayney was born on May 4, 1987, in Westlake, Ohio. He was a much-loved son, brother, uncle, and friend. His parents were Brian (Rosie) and Patricia Blayney.

Colin had strong connections with his siblings, Tricia, Caitlin, Ian, Katie (Drew), and Taylor (Vincent). He also cherished his role as an affectionate uncle to his nieces and nephews: Dominic, Brandon, Aza, Dylan, Ryker, Liam, and Izaiah.

A Community Pillar

Colin was not only important to his family but also a beloved part of his community. His caring and friendly nature touched the lives of many people in his neighborhood. His sudden departure has created a big emptiness, not only in his family but also in the community that appreciated having him around.

How Did Colin Blayney Die?

On the night of January 18, 2024, Colin was involved in a tragic car accident on US 6 (Lake Road) near Vineyard Road in Avon Lake, Ohio. The incident involved his 2005 Mercedes-Benz E320, which veered off the road and collided with two utility poles.

Sadly, Colin was pronounced dead at the scene. This heartbreaking event left the community in shock and sorrow, mourning the loss of a beloved individual.

St. Raphael School shares a tribute to Colin Blayney and wrote,

“This morning, we gathered together as a community to mourn the loss and celebrate the life of our dear friend, Mr. Colin Blayney. At this Mass, Fr. Dan and Fr. Tim both reminded us that our community is a net of love, and that although we are weathering a hard storm, God is with us and we are all together. Saint Raphael School will have counselors on hand all day long for any students who need to talk to somebody. Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.”

Colin Blayney Funeral Arrangements and Tributes

We gathered on January 26, 2024, at McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home of Westlake to remember and honor Colin’s life. The next day, on January 27, 2024, a funeral mass took place at St. Raphael Church in Bay Village, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggested contributing to St. Raphael School in memory of Colin, reflecting his dedication to the community and his cherished values.
