What Did Cameron Connor’s Mother Say About His Death?
Cameron’s mother, “Penny Wagers Connor,” said that when the tragedy happened her son was shooting ducks with his closest buddy, who is also Cameron’s age. She said that the boys attended Dorchester Academy in St. George, South Carolina, where they were enrolled in the eighth grade and were active members of the baseball and football teams.
Penny thanked the community for their support and expressed her grief about her son in an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. She wrote:
“I don’t know how to express into words from the bottom of my heart the outpouring love and support that we have felt today from the Junior (as well as some Sophomore) Dorchester Academy students, family, friends and our community. We’re so grateful for the food, flowers, and fellowship. As a parent, this is one of the most difficult tragedies to navigate and process. Please hold your children extra tight and tell them you love them.”
She continued:
“Please pray for myself, Bryson, Marshall, Kelly, Finnley and our families as we grieve the loss of our sweet Cameron. Please pray for his best friend and his family. Heaven gained an angel last night. His presence made an impact on so many people. I’ll be forever grateful for your outpouring love and support for him. Son, I’ll miss you every single day and until we meet again, I love you with all of my heart and soul.”
