Madame Web is coming to theaters next month, and some fans are unsure if it’s a Spider-Man movie or something else. Here’s everything you need to know about Dakota Johnson’s upcoming superhero film.
Is Madame Web a Spiderman Movie?
No, Madame Web is not a Spider-Man movie. But, in the movie, the main attention will be on four characters linked to Spider-Man and his friends in the comics: Cassandra Webb/Madame Web, Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman, Mattie Franklin/Spider-Woman, and Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl/Arana.
These characters have powers similar to Spider-Man, like climbing walls, shooting webs, and having extra strength. The movie is about Cassandra Webb, a psychic paramedic in Manhattan.
She has to face her past and join forces with three talented young women to deal with a new mysterious enemy named Ezekiel Sims. Sims were connected to Cassandra’s mom as they explored the Amazon rainforest together, researching spiders before her mom passed away.

Madame Web Trailer
On November 15, 2023, Sony shared the first trailer. It showed that Johnson will be playing a young Cassandra Web who just started having psychic visions. The teaser also revealed that she, along with her three young Spider-Women friends, will be facing off against Ezekiel Sims, a character from the comic books.
Does Madame Web unfold within the Spider-Man world?
Madame Web happens in a Spider-Man world, especially one where Spider-Man hasn’t been born yet. But it looks like Madame Web will be in a different universe than the Venom movies, Kraven the Hunter, and Morbius based on the synopsis.
“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.
The Madame Web story will include two important characters from Spider-Man’s world – Uncle Ben, Spider-Man’s uncle (played by Adam Scott), and Mary Parker, Spider-Man’s mother (played by Emma Roberts).
