Tina Lai is a former restaurant manager. Lai, who is originally from Vietnam, arrived in the US in 1978 together with her parents as refugees from the Communist regime back home. All eight of her siblings including Tina and her parents put in a lot of effort after their family relocated to America to pursue the American dream.
The family eventually opened a restaurant called the “Vietnam Cafe” which was later given to Tina’s brother Benny Lai. As per “Philly Mag” Tina Lai frequently appeared behind the counter at Fu Wah and assisted her brother in running the company.
In the end, Tina took over as manager of Vietnam Cafe in 2008 and she and her brother helped to expand the “small business” to remarkable heights.
