On June 27, 2023, it was revealed that Janway’s parents as well as her 11-year-old nephew “Dalton Janway” died on Monday, June 26, 2023 evening following a fatal shooting.
The incident took place at Janway’s Oklahoma home. At the time of her passing, Terry was 68 years old and Jack, a 69-year-old businessman was in charge of Janway Chiropractic and Acupuncture. About Jack, Mayor Marlon Coleman stated:
“It was traumatizing to find out that a long-standing family who had made so many contributions to our community were involved in this type of incident. I knew Dr. Janway. Dr Janway has worked on me, we’ve been acquaintances for a very, very long time since I’ve been in Muskogee.”

Jack Janway’s death deeply affected his family members. Chandra’s sister “Marianne Janway” appeared to be pleading to come out of a bad dream in a Facebook post. She wrote, “Please tell me this isn’t really happening please god someone.”
After the incident, Johnson’s team announced in a statement that they would not be participating in the forthcoming NASCAR race scheduled for July 2, 2023, in Chicago.
“The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made.”
