In August of 2023, Binkley declared his intention to run as a Republican for president of the United States in the 2024 election. He is also taking part in the Republican Party presidential primary in 2024.
He spent nearly US$3 million on his campaign organization in Iowa during the third quarter of 2023, outspending all other Republican contenders by October.

Balancing the federal budget, cutting health care costs, working across party lines to change immigration laws, and “revitalizing education” to promote civic engagement are his four main tenets.
Binkley has been concentrating his campaign in Iowa, the site of the first caucus, by interacting with the local press and purchasing $250,000 worth of radio commercials. He claimed that the Republican principles emphasized in the 2022 US elections did not resonate with people. He is viewed as a “longshot” for the nomination and has struggled to set himself apart from the competition in Iowa throughout the campaign road.
On July 28, he gave a speech at the Republican Party of Iowa’s Lincoln Dinner, which serves as a crucial platform for state candidates.
In an attempt to gather funds to be eligible for the first Republican debate, which was scheduled for August 23, 2023, in Milwaukee, Binkley made many trips to Iowa and scheduled trips to New Hampshire, Texas and South Carolina.
For the most part, Binkley has been supporting his campaign on his own, but he has also made a plea to supporters to assist him in meeting the donor threshold necessary to take part in the RNC-approved debates in 2024.
Binkley has made it clear time and time again that he intends to pursue his campaign through the caucuses. He was still polling at or close to 0% even though he was eligible for most primary ballots at the start of the primary season. After spending more than $3,000,000 (including $500,000 in the last two weeks), Binkley garnered less than 800 votes in the 2024 Iowa Caucuses—an average of more than $4,000 per vote.
His vote total came as a bit of a surprise. Despite having poor polling numbers, Binkley managed to garner more votes than Asa Hutchinson, the former governor of Arkansas.
