When Did Pierce Norton Die?
On Thursday, January 11, 2024, Boston Police Department Officer Pierce Fitzgerald Norton passed away tragically due to a medical issue.
Pierce was the loving son of Lawrence and Maureen (Fitzgerald) Norton of South Boston, beloved husband of Brittani Smith, devoted father of Pierce Salvatore Norton, cherished brother of Lauren Wilson and her husband Michael and loving uncle of Charlotte and Jack Beaty.
Pierce is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly. Mr. and Mrs. (Nina) Richard Hayes of South Boston, Gerard. V.
Where Will Pierce Norton Funeral Services be Held?
On January 16, 2024, visitation services will be held at St. Brigid Church, 841 East Broadway, South Boston between 4–7 p.m. There will be a funeral mass at St. Brigid Church on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. Friends and family are cordially invited.

A Look at the Professional Life of Pierce Norton
On December 9, 2013, upon his graduation from the Boston Police Academy, he started working for the Boston Police Department. He was sent to probationary duty in Districts B-3, A-1 and D-4. He was duly admitted as a Boston Police Officer with a permanent assignment in District A-1 after serving this term.
He assumed leadership of the Citywide Bicycle Unit in 2018. Officer Norton received several awards throughout his tenure that recognized his unwavering commitment including recognition for his prompt and aggressive handling of complaints about living conditions.
Officer Norton was also complimented for his efficient management of the demonstration that occurred in Boston in May 2020, during his time with the COBRA Team and the Citywide Bicycle Unit. At the Boston Police Relief Association’s annual awards presentation in 2021, his squad received a squad Citation in recognition of their unwavering work.
Officer Norton was regarded with great respect by everyone who had the opportunity to know him, encompassing his coworkers, superiors and the community he served, along with those within the Department. Boston Police Department shared a post on Facebook related to the life of Pierce Norton:
