The World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery community has been debating the release date of the game’s second phase in great detail. More material has now surfaced, confirming the release date and providing more specifics about the nature of this new age.
What is WoW: Season of Discovery Phase 2 Release Date?
World of Warcraft has now disclosed that the second half of Season of Discovery will air shortly. The second segment of Season of Discovery will open on February 8, raising the level maximum from 25 to 40. Below we shared a tweet that confirmed the release date.

The Classic servers of World of Warcraft will now have a new level cap, raid and other new secrets thanks to this latest patch. A brand-new World of Warcraft experience called Season of Discovery adds novel elements to the traditional formula.
In addition to taking on the new Blackfathom Deeps raid and taking part in a global PvPvE event in Ashenvale, players may find Runes that significantly alter the gameplay of each class. On these World of Warcraft Classic servers, the level cap will rise with each phase of Season of Discovery, starting at 25.
Along with taking part in a PvP event in Stranglethorn Vale, players will be able to encounter a new raid version of Gnomeregan from Classic WoW and gain new runes.

What are the Features in WoW: Season of Discovery Phase 2?
The features in WoW: Season of Discovery Phase 2 are as follows:
- Raising the level cap from 25 to 40
- Gnomeregan raid dungeon
- Stranglethorn Vale PvP event
- All classes get new runes, powers, and secrets
It appears from the announcement tweet from the official World of Warcraft account that there may be more surprises in store. A character in Stranglethorn Vale may be seen in the brief video observing the sun as it rapidly becomes a vivid, crimson red.
This may just be a hint to the carnage that will occur in the upcoming PvP event, but it also might be related to a new mystery. That zone is home to the endgame Zul’Gurub raid, which is also where the fabled Blood Plague of Hakkar in World of Warcraft originated.
Thus, there may be some connection between the bloody sky and the legendary raid monster. In a video titled “Intro to Season of Discovery and a Sneak Peek at What’s Next” senior game producer Josh Greenfield and lead software engineer Nora Valletta confirmed phase two will increase the level cap to 40.
At least four additional stages of the Classic Season of Discovery are planned for World of Warcraft: Phase 2 at level 40, Phase 3 at level 50 and stages 4 and 5 at level 60.
