How Did Harrison Ford Get Injuries in His Life?
For an 81-year-old, Harrison Ford is unexpectedly in excellent health. It’s hardly shocking that Harrison, a star in the franchise, has had a few on-set accidents over the years.
When battling a massive German mechanic on an airplane during the 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark production, the actor tore an ACL in one of his knees. Harrison suffered a knee injury at the site after being run over by the landing gear.
A few years later in 1984, the actor sustained a spinal injury while riding elephants while filming Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. As a result, he had to stop shooting for five weeks to receive medical care for his back. During the 2015 Star Wars: The Force Awakens production, he unintentionally activated a hydraulic door while standing below, which was one of his most horrific on-set mishaps.
The actor was on the verge of death when the door broke his leg. He called it “a f***ing great hydraulic door which closed at light speed” and at a court hearing, prosecutor Andrew Marshall stated that it may have killed someone.
The impact of the door would have been comparable to the weight of a small car. On the set of the most recent Indiana Jones movie, “The Dial of Destiny” Ford also damaged himself. Filming had to stop while his injured shoulder healed.
