Gloria Gaither Career

In the 1960s, Bill and Gloria Gaither started writing songs like “Because He Lives,” “I Am Loved,” and “Something Beautiful.” These songs became widely loved hymns in churches across North America and beyond.

By the late ’60s, Gloria, Bill, and Bill’s brother Danny formed the Bill Gaither Trio, touring and singing the songs they wrote. After almost thirty years of touring, Gloria shifted her attention to the Gaither Homecoming series, where she has played a key role in every video production.

Back in 1996, she took charge of starting up Gaither Family Resources in Alexandria, Indiana. Now, she’s the co-owner and managing director. In 2002, she kicked off Homecoming: The Magazine and currently wears multiple hats as a writer, interviewer, and contributing editor.

In 2000, Bill and Gloria got a big honor—they were called the Christian Songwriters of the Century by ASCAP. This award looks at songwriters who’ve had lots of songs recorded over the last 100 years.

Gloria, Bill’s partner, is pretty impressive, too. She’s got seven honorary doctorate degrees and has written over 40 books, including 20 for kids.
