Benjamin Louis Lagow was born on April 21, 2003, in New York City but grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was well-liked in his community because of his friendly nature and outgoing personality.
Ben graduated from Norfolk Academy in 2022 and was known for being the captain of the soccer and lacrosse teams during his senior year. He received the Charles Forsyth Wirth Award for his impressive accomplishments.

Ben was in his second year at Hampden-Sydney College. He played lacrosse and was part of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Ben studied Business and Economics and was a leader in both academics and sports. His college experience was filled with sports, especially lacrosse, which became like a second family to him.

Ben loved being outside, especially near the water or on sports fields. Whether he was wakeboarding, fishing with his grandpa, or trying out surfing, he always enjoyed outdoor activities.
Ben was a caring and loyal person, being a good friend, boyfriend, teammate, brother, son, and grandson. People admired his sense of humor and positive outlook. Ben was a natural leader who worked hard and cared a lot about his family and friends.

Funeral services were held at Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk, Virginia, on Sunday, December 31, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial gifts to Norfolk Academy in memory of Ben, reflecting his desire to give back to the school that played a significant role in his life.
