A Look at the Life of Peg McKamey
Peg McKamey was one of twelve children born to the late Rev. Ed and Velma McKamey. Located in Clinton, Tennessee, to the northwest of Knoxville is home to the McKamey family.
Bean formed the group in 1954 alongside her sisters, Carol and Dora. In 1957, they brought on guitarist Ruben Bean, who wed Peg on June 29, 1959. As the ensemble performed all around North America, Bean sang and waved her white handkerchief. Eventually, the group added more family members.
The McKameys were a fixture at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with performances occurring on about 130 days of the year. They are well-known for singing gospel tunes including “I Made It By Grace” and “I Have a Home.”
