On Oct 28, 2022, a mom shared in court that her 5-year-old daughter accused one of the daycare owners of touching her inappropriately with scratchy fingers. The owner, Malay Jindal of The Goddard School of Raleigh (North), was arrested and charged with “forcible fondling.”
The girl’s account initiated an investigation starting July 30. In early August, the school informed parents about the investigation, leading some to withdraw their children due to concerns.
Many parents were really upset and took their kids out of the school. Even though the school tried to handle the situation, a lot of parents lost trust in them.
On Thursday, Michelle Rees, the manager at Goddard Systems, sent a letter to families. The letter included the following message:
“As the Jindals shared with you in August, an investigation was initiated at The Goddard School of Raleigh (North) following an allegation that was made against an on-site owner, Malay. Today, following their investigation, local police charged Malay with ‘statutory sex offense with child by adult.’ Malay denies the allegations and will make every effort to refute them.”
Jindal went to court on Friday and said he didn’t do what he’s accused of. His lawyer said Jindal was looking after the kids during the teachers’ lunch break on that day.
The lawyer also mentioned that around 11 kids were there, napping. Jindal’s lawyer requested a lower bond, but the judge decided on a $2 million secured bond.
