A Look at Kim Mulkey’s Historic NCAA Championship Journey
Kim Mulkey is an American college basketball player and coach currently serving as the head coach of Louisiana State University’s women’s basketball team.
In addition to becoming the first person in NCAA women’s basketball history to win a national championship as a player, assistant coach and head coach, she has won three NCAA titles as the coach of Baylor in 2005, 2012 and 2019.
Mulkey was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020. Mulkey, who coached her Hammond High School basketball team to four straight state titles was among the first females in the US to play organized basketball against boys.
After playing for a while, she went on to play for Louisiana Tech University, where she was a two-time national champion player, an assistant coach in 1985 and an associate head coach in 1996.
Mulkey has also competed for the United States of America national team, winning gold in the Pan-American Games in 1983 and the Olympics in 1984. She is a very good player and fans love her playing skills.
