Actor Michael Landon and his third wife, Cindy Clerico are the parents of Landon. She is the half-sister of screenwriter Christopher B. Landon and director Michael Landon, Jr.; actor Mark Landon is her adoptive brother.

After completing her education at Brentwood School, she relocated to New York City to enroll in New York University, where she participated in multiple theatrical performances. Even though her father was raised Jewish, her paternal grandmother was Catholic and her paternal grandfather was Jewish.

At the age of five, Landon’s father gave her her first acting role, casting her as a little child in one of the last episodes of his television show, “Highway to Heaven”. Jennifer reunited with her father before his death in 1991, having been cast as Jennifer Kramer in the pilot.
Landon had a co-starring role in the independent film L.A. DJ in 2004. She was chosen to appear in one episode of the CBS daytime serial opera “As the World Turns” in the role of Gwen Norbeck Munson at the beginning of 2005.
She quickly agreed to a three-year deal with the show. For her performance, Landon was honored three times in a row with the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. The plot of the character-centered on her pursuing a music career in late 2006, with the two tracks “Slide” and “I Saw Love” being released.
Both songs were composed by Nini Camps and were performed by Landon. Landon appeared in two episodes of As the World Turns from April to July 2007: one as regular Gwen Norbeck Munson and the other as Cleo Babbitt, a lookalike.
