Who is the Person Behind Timothy Ferguson’s Death?
Timothy Ferguson’s mother is the person behind his death. On Friday, December 15, 2023, Shanda Vander Ark went on trial for the crimes of child abuse, murder and torturing her crippled 15-year-old son, Timothy Ferguson.
During the trial, Vander Ark claimed that she gave her son a warm bath on the night he died. But her older son ” Paul Ferguson” disputed the claim.
Paul Ferguson told investigators he had given Timothy an ice bath that day under his mother’s orders. He informed them that he had left him inside for a minimum of four hours. These ice showers were one of several forms of abuse that the 15-year-old continued to endure.
This included being shackled and zip ties being used to restrain him, while also being deprived of sleep. It was also said that she fed her son hot sauce and got Ferguson to taunt his little brother with food.
It was also reported that Ferguson was made to tease his younger brother with food by her and that she fed her son spicy sauce.
Ferguson claimed that his mother had given him the order to make fun of his younger brother. He said:
“I’d say it’s something close to Stockholm Syndrome. I desire to find a role model that, due to my own low self-esteem, I would do anything to make them proud of me.”
Prosecutor Matt Roberts questioned Vander Ark in court about the specifics of the supposed heated bath she gave her kid. He then proceeded to show her pictures of malnourished body and asked if this is what her son looked like when she put him in the bath tub.
The mother covered her mouth at this point and started vomiting into a basket beneath the stand. Vander Ark apologized but kept throwing up. She then apologized to the court, asked for a moment and started to cry.
The next day, it was determined that Vander Ark who has five biological children had killed and tortured Timothy. She is facing first-degree murder charges for the death of her special needs son Timothy Ferguson.

Although Paul, Timothy’s elder brother has also been accused of first-degree child abuse. She also claimed she locked up the family’s fridge, freezer and pantry because Timothy tried to eat frozen food and uncooked meat.
Prosecutor Roberts said she tortured the child by feeding him hot sauce and punishing him with ice baths. On January 29, 2024, she will be given a sentence that might result in life in prison.
