Who is Ruth Negga’s Parents?
Negga was born in 1981 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to an Ethiopian father and an Irish mother named Nora. Her father, a physician and mother, a nurse, met while employed at a hospital in Ethiopia. Negga was raised in the country until she was four years old.
When she was seven years old, her father perished in a vehicle crash. She was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland and attended high school in London, England.
Negga received a BA in acting studies from Trinity College Dublin’s Samuel Beckett Center. Negga won the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actress for her depiction of Mildred Loving in the latter and she was nominated for other major awards including the Academy, British Academy Film and Golden Globes.
As Lady Macbeth in a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth on Broadway in 2022, Negga received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play. She has also acted in the following motion pictures: Warcraft, Passing, Breakfast on Pluto, Isolation, Capital Letters.
