Tay-K is an American rapper and convicted murderer. He gained fame for his song “The Race” in 2017, which reached number 44 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum in January 2018.
The song talks about McIntyre’s involvement in criminal activities and became popular during a nationwide manhunt that led to his arrest in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
McIntyre was captured by U.S. marshals on June 30, 2017, the same day “The Race” was released, after being on the run for three months. Despite his legal troubles, the song achieved platinum status.
Upon returning to Texas to face charges, McIntyre received support from fans on social media. While in Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas, his management team released his debut mixtape, Santana World, on July 29, 2017, which received positive feedback from both critics and fans.
When Will Tay-K Be Released From Jail?
On October 3, 2017, Tay-K faced more serious charges for a crime in San Antonio. He and his legal team tried to get him treated as a juvenile. In February 2018, a girl who helped Tay K got 20 years in prison for serious charges. Another person admitted guilt and made a deal to testify against Tay K and others involved.
One person got a life sentence with no chance of parole for killing Walker. Two others got sentenced to 25 years and 40 years for the same crime. On May 24, 2018, they confirmed that McIntyre wouldn’t face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
On July 15, 2017, during his first trial day, Tay-K admitted to two charges of aggravated robbery in a home invasion case. However, on July 19, a jury declared him guilty of murder and another charge of aggravated robbery. The song “The Race,” by the rapper, was presented as evidence during the trial.
Tay-K, who is only 19 years old, got a 55-year prison sentence for murder, 30 more years for aggravated robbery, and two extra 13-year sentences for other robbery charges. Since the sentences will be served at the same time, Tay-K can apply for parole after 27.5 years, around January 23, 2047.
Tay-K shares a tweet. He said,
“I bet if I was a lil white kid they wouldn’t have gave me no 55 years for a crime I was alleged to play the most insignificant role in when I was 16….they woulda rightfully argued that my mind wasn’t fully developed and gave me rehabilitation and a 2nd (1st) chance at adulthood”

Why Was Tay-K in Jail?
Tay-K ran into legal problems on January 1, 2016, right after a New Year’s performance in Denton, Texas. He was with his friend, Eric “Santana Sage” Johnson from Daytona Boyz when Johnson shot and killed a young woman named Sara Mutschlechner while they were in the car.
Johnson said he didn’t do it, but he got a 44-year prison sentence. Tay-K wasn’t accused in that situation. However, in July 2016, Tay K faced serious trouble. He and six others got arrested for a deadly home invasion in Mansfield, Texas. It was about a drug dealer, and the dealer died during the incident.
Two women and Tay-K planned to trick 19-year-old Zachary Beloate into letting them into his house. Tay-K, along with some others, carried guns and wanted to steal money and drugs.
Unfortunately, the robbery didn’t go as planned, and Ethan Walker, Beloate’s friend, was killed during a confrontation. Tay-K confessed to his part in the robbery when questioned by the police.
In January 2017, the teenager was put on house arrest while waiting for court hearings. However, just a few days before the hearings on March 27, 2017, Tay-K and another suspect removed their ankle monitors and escaped to San Antonio, Texas.
While running from the law, the suspects allegedly killed a 23-year-old man named Mark Anthony Saldivar during a robbery outside a Chick-fil-A in the same city.
In another incident in Arlington, Texas, Tay-K was identified in a lineup after robbing and knocking unconscious 65-year-old Owney “Skip” Pepe in Cravens Park.
Later, the rapper went to Elizabeth in New Jersey, where he recorded the popular song “The Race,” talking about his life while on the run. Tay-K was captured on June 30, 2017, and then moved to an adult jail on July 20, 2017.
