Jason Mraz is talking candidly about his sometimes challenging path to self-acceptance since coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
The 46-year-old singer of “Have It All” talked about how he’s learned to embrace his identity since publicly coming out in 2018. He also discussed how Dancing with the Stars competitions have aided him in his personal development. He said:
“I had to play out a lot of other scenarios before I arrived here. It’s both hard to do those and hard to unravel those, and what I’m basically describing is a divorce, you know? And that’s very hard. You carry a lot of shame, guilt.”
Below we shared a post related to his interview:

In 2018, Mraz disclosed that he had had s*x with men even during his time as Christina Carano’s spouse. They were married in 2015. Back then, he admitted to wondering if he was gay, but Carano clarified it by referring to him as a “two-spirit,” a Native American term for a person who is capable of loving both men and women.
The Grammy-winning singer declared that he liked that phrasing, even though he and Carano had separated in June. Mraz, who was recently included in Out100, Out magazine’s annual list of the most significant LGBTQ+ individuals of the year discussed that he felt compelled to reconcile his history with his present while still making progress toward self-acceptance. He said:
“You want to heal as many relationships of the past as possible and at the same time, step into this new acceptance and new identity or whatever I’m claiming, and that’s also hard, So being on the Out100 is… It’s nice to be acknowledged.”
