Cabot made her film debut in Twentieth Century Fox’s film noir Kiss of Death which was filmed in New York, playing a bit part as a restaurant patron. She became well-known for her parts in several Western movies such as Gunsmoke, The Duel at Silver Creek and Tomahawk.
Cabot resumed her acting career in New York theaters after terminating her contract with Universal Pictures in the middle of the 1950s. Later in the decade, she went back to Hollywood and starred in several of Roger Corman’s films including Machine-Gun Kelly, War of the Satellites and Sorority Girl.
In 1959, she starred in her last motion picture, Corman’s horror thriller The Wasp Woman. Cabot remained relatively private for the next twenty years, though she did make a cameo on television in 1970 on the show Bracken’s World and performed in off-Broadway theater in the early 1960s. ‘

On July 9, 1927, Cabot was born in Boston, Massachusetts into a Jewish household as Harriet Pearl Shapiro. Her early years were turbulent; Cabot was left an orphan after her mother Elizabeth was institutionalized after her father’s abandonment of the family.
She spent most of her early years in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City and was later nurtured in eight different foster homes. After completing her high school education in Manhattan, Cabot obtained a job as a children’s book illustrator. She worked as a singer, giving performances at Manhattan’s Village Barn club, to augment her income.
