Steve Pool, a longtime Seattle TV weather forecaster passed away on November 22, 2023 from Alzheimer’s disease, his family confirmed this news. On the Facebook account of Steve Pool, a statement was shared related to his death. The statement is:
“Dear Friends, I am here to share the sad news that my dear husband, my love, has passed away from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. He fought this terrible disease privately for several years, and with every ounce of his being. He told me multiple times to “never count me out” and we never did. This past week it became too much and he passed away peacefully. “
“We are so blessed to have had him in our lives. He was an extraordinary man, husband, father and good friend to many. Please know that he truly loved his job and this community and felt so privileged to be a part of your lives.”

A Look at Steve Pool’s Life
Steve was one of the pioneers of Seattle broadcasting and eventually became the principal weather anchor on KOMO 4. In 1974, he started working for the station as an intern while still a college student at the University of Washington.
The University of Washington tweeted, “Steve’s legendary career with @komonews spanned more than four decades, serving as one of our region’s most trusted weathermen.”

After serving as the student body president at Tyee High School in SeaTac, Washington, Pool graduated. While attending the University of Washington, Pool began his career with KOMO-TV as an intern. After his graduation in 1978, Pool worked as a reporter, writer and finally a weathercaster.
Pool started anchoring a Saturday morning show called “Front Runners” on KOMO-TV in the 1980s. “Little Steps” was a children’s Direct-to-video series that Pool hosted in the 1990s. Throughout his career, Pool made over 70 appearances on Good Morning America and was honored with eight Emmy Awards.
He was also the author of Somewhere, I Was Right, a book about weather and forecasting. The University of Washington Department of Communications Hall of Fame inducted him in 2004.
