A Look at Allante Leapheart’s Journey Beyond Football
Allante Leapheart played football for EKU in the past. Leapheart’s grandma was a committed third-grade teacher who taught him the importance of paying attention in class at a young age. When he was old enough to toss a football, his uncle signed him up for the team.
Being an athlete from birth, football rapidly became an integral part of Leapheart’s life. Football was on his mind, whether it was Sunday afternoon game-watching with his family or fantasy football. He and his cherished grandma would spend Friday nights at the field, supporting his uncles while they played.
Leapheart found methods to respect his grandmother’s memory and continued to seek her guidance in spirit after she passed away at the young age of 10. After graduating from high school in 2011, Leapheart had to make a big choice.
He defied family pressure to play football at Grand Rapids Community College, but he bravely decided that his mother’s needs came first in their trying situation.
