Murati was born in 1988 in Vlore, Albania, to Albanian parents. When she was 16, she went to Pearson College UWC in Canada on Vancouver Island. She finished high school there in 2007.
After that, she got a scholarship to attend Colby College in Maine, USA. She was also chosen for a special five-year program in engineering at Dartmouth College. In 2012, she earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Dartmouth and a Bachelor of Arts from Colby.
