He had a 1982 Porsche 911 SC that he sold in the middle of the 2000s and then bought a 2006 Porsche 911 (997) Carrera S. In 2004, Hammond buy a Porsche 928 to use for daily drive. He has owned some American power cars like a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, a 1967 Ford Mustang GT 390 and a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 that he bought in the U.S. on an episode of “Top Gear” Series 12.

Hammond was born on December 19, 1969 in Solihull, England. He is the oldest of three boys and the grandson of people who worked in the Birmingham car business. In the middle of the 1980s, Hammond moved to the North Yorkshire cathedral city of Ripon with his mother Eileen, father Alan and younger brothers Andrew (author of the “Crypt” series) and Nicholas.
From the ages of 3 to 7, he went to Blossomfield Infant School in the Sharmans Cross area of Solihull. He went to Solihull School, a private school for boys that charged fees, at first, then Ripon Grammar School and from 1986 to 1988, he went to Harrogate College of Art and Technology.
