Jillian Slatas passed away at the age of 26 on November 12, 2017, from an accidental drug overdose of heroin laced with fentanyl. The Jillian Foundation says that Jillian fought drugs and mental illnesses for many years.
While she was at Bentley, her doctor gave her Tramadol, which is what started her battle with addiction. Jillian is remembered as a loving daughter, sister, and friend who had a bright smile and a kind heart.

Which Foundation Did Jillian Slatas’ Father Establish After Her Death?
Jillian Slatas was born on June 15, 1991, in Boston, Massachusetts, to her father Alan Slatas and mother. In 2013 Jillian Slatas finished Bentley College with honors in marketing. She went back to school to become a nurse because she wanted to help people.
After going to several treatment centers and relapsing, Jillian finally got to Gosnold in Falmouth. There, she checked into the Women’s Center for 90 days and then hired a sober guide when she was free. But during making her career, Jillian passed away.
After Jillian’s death, her father channeled his grief into action by founding “The Jillian Foundation”. This non-profit group raises knowledge about the opioid crisis and helps people who are struggling with it. Alan’s tireless work goes beyond advocacy; he also does study, especially in the area of harm reduction.
To make sure Jillian’s memory goes on, the Jillian Foundation not only raises awareness but also plans events and fundraisers to help people get better. Alan Slatas became a supporter of harm reduction after seeing how hard things were for his daughter.
This method tries to reduce the risks right away, stop more health problems from happening and give complete care plans. As part of harm reduction, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) mixes counseling with FDA-approved drugs, taking into account the complex nature of addiction.
