Jones was born in Kobe, Japan to American parents. He grew up in Carson, California. His mother is a computer expert and his father is a professional baseball player named Clarence Jones. At the time of his birth, Jones was playing for the Nankai Hawks in Osaka.
Clarence Jones Jr., his older brother works as a high school basketball teacher. After Clarence retired at the end of the 1978 season, they would go back to North America. In the end, his folks split up. Jones went to Torrance, California’s Bishop Montgomery High School and then graduated from Tuskegee University
