Alice’s father was a preacher in The Church of Jesus Christ, and his grandfather, Thurman Sylvester Furnier, was a leader in that church. The Alice family lived in East Detroit near Eastland Mall. Vincent, also known as Cooper, went to Kantner Elementary School and enjoyed watching scary movies at the Eastown Theatre.
He was really into Halloween and took part in trick-or-treating in the neighborhood, considering it the “biggest night of the year.” At ages 11 to 12, Cooper was active in his church.
