On Friday, October 27, 2023, Julia Black, a Lakeland, Florida native and junior in the Harrison School for the Arts Orchestra program, abruptly passed away. At the time of her death, she was 16 years old.

Black’s death notice said that the teenager was a caring person who always did the right thing. The teen’s family said that the funeral will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

How Did Julia Black’s Loved Ones React on Her Death?
Community members are in grief following the untimely loss of Julia Black, a Harrison junior who was regarded as an honor student and an active volunteer in her community. Lakeland High School shared on Facebook, “Always on our minds, forever in our hearts. Julia will forever be Nulli Secundus.”
Black was regarded as a devoted teammate on the Lakeland High School varsity volleyball team and a passionately kind adolescent. The St. Paul Volleyball camp in Lakeland honored the deceased adolescent, who was said to have been a girls’ volleyball coach since 2021.
The camp praised Black as a fantastic mentor who encouraged teenagers to pursue the sport in a Facebook post. They said, “It was with a very heavy heart that I let you know that one of our coaches, Julia Black, passed away unexpectedly Friday night.”
There was also a touching dedication to Black from the Harrison School of Artswas Vic because she was President of the Arts Council and Vice President of the National English Honor Society.
