In place of the hurt Scherzer, Jon Gray entered the match. After having trouble during the postseason, the future Hall of Famer is disappointed with the turn of events. With just one strikeout in three innings, the veteran was putting the Arizona Diamondbacks out of their misery early in Game 3 of the World Series.
Scherzer has only been able to pitch 9.2 innings this postseason which has been difficult for him. The eight-time All-Star has struck out seven batters in his two outings, but his awful 6.52 ERA has been recorded.

What Did Justin Say About Max Scherzer?
As part of a huge trade with the New York Mets, Scherzer joined the Texas Rangers in return for top infield prospect Luisangel Acuña, who is the brother of Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña. Justin tweeted:
“Mets 100% made the right move trading Scherzer at the deadline. This is still one of the worst trades in recent years.”

With the Texas Rangers, Scherzer pitched just 45.0 innings due to injuries, but in that time he recorded a 3.20 ERA, went 4-2, and struck out 53 batters.
His regular season numbers were good, but what has really made him a burden have been the ailments he sustained leading up to the tournament and his subpar postseason play.
Because he had an effective outing prior to the injury, this is what made his exit on Monday night even more heartbreaking. With just 36 pitches in his 3.0 innings, Scherzer shut down the quick-hitting Arizona Diamondbacks order.
