Frank Howard was a big man with a big bat!
Did you know he had:
A higher career OPS+ than Alex Rodriguez, Chipper Jones, and Ken Griffey Jr.
More homers than Joe DiMaggio, Tony Perez, or Luis Gonzalez.
May he rest in peace… pic.twitter.com/qMpBG6xLYo

A Look at Frank Howard’s Professional Life
Frank Howard was an Ohio State University multi-sport star before he rose to fame in Major League Baseball. In baseball and basketball, he was named an All-American.
Howard was even given the chance to pursue a career in basketball when he was picked by the American Basketball League’s Philadelphia Warriors. He signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers after deciding to play baseball.
His choice of baseball over basketball turned out to be wise. In baseball, Howard’s athleticism was also evident as he played both infield and outfield with equal enthusiasm. Off the field, he was a fan favorite due to his endearing demeanor and unwavering enthusiasm for baseball.
Howard never left the diamond after retiring, taking on a variety of coaching responsibilities and developing younger players. In 1977, he began serving as a coach for the Milwaukee Brewers.
In addition, Howard coached for a number of other Major League Baseball clubs, spending time with the New York Mets and Seattle Mariners. He had been employed by the Yankees since 2000 as a player development teacher.
Fans from all generations who had the honor of seeing his skill on the field are left with a hole in their hearts as a result of his passing.
