“It was with great shock that we learned of the death of Shane Fitzsimons, Harbour Heights, early today. The eldest son of Anne and the late Garry, Shane has been a very generous benefactor to many Kinsale charities, clubs and organisations and the main donor for Fitzsimons Park, the wonderful pitch and track facility at Kinsale Community School, due to his very successful global career in Finance.”

How Did Community Pay Tribute to Shane Fitzsimons?

Shane Fitzsimons’ death shocked his family and friends. His loved ones paid tribute to him on social media. Kinsale Notice Board posted:

“I received a devastating phone call early this morning that a good friend of mine had left us far too early, Shane Fitzsimons. I will miss our chats, the messages and the comments, but most of all, I will miss meeting you on the streets of the town you loved so well.”

“To your wife, children, mum and siblings, sincere condolences. We are all with you at this terrible time. Goodbye, Shane, and thanks for being a genuine friend, as you were to so many.”

Cherif Zein said, “Shane Fitzsimons God Bless you my dear friend going to miss our adventures around the world . Thank you for your friendship and support.”

He was a very generous and kind-hearted individual. He had a lasting impression on the area by giving liberally to many different Kinsale clubs, organizations and charities. He consistently showed his love and support for his family and made time for them.

We wish to send Shane’s family our deepest sympathies at this difficult time of grief. We hope that his memories will serve as inspiration for all of us and that he rests in complete peace.
