Why is Kathleen Kennedy Famous?

Kathleen Kennedy is an American film producer and the president of Lucasfilm. She co-founded Amblin Entertainment in 1981 alongside Frank Marshall, her future husband and Steven Spielberg.

In 1982, she produced E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, her first feature film. Ten years later, she co-produced the Jurassic Park films with Spielberg once more; the first two of the franchise’s films went on to become two of the top ten highest-grossing movies of the nineties.

She and her husband, Frank Marshall, co-founded The Kennedy/Marshall Company in 1992. She was appointed president of Lucasfilm on October 30, 2012, following the $4.2 billion acquisition of the firm by The Walt Disney firm.

In 2018, she was honored with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Irving G. Thalberg Award. As president of Lucasfilm, she oversaw the creation, manufacture and distribution of films that included the standalone Star Wars movies Solo and Rogue One, the fifth entry in the Indiana Jones series, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and the Star Wars sequel trilogy, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

Additionally, she has developed a number of Star Wars television shows forDisney+, including Andor, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Kennedy produced a number of films directed by and enjoyed considerable success.

Kathleen Kennedy was born on June 5, 1953 and now she is 70 years old. Donald R. Kennedy, a judge and lawyer, and Dione Marie “Dede”, a former theater actress, welcomed Kennedy into the world in Berkeley, California.

She has two sisters. Connie, her twin sister, is currently the executive producer of Profile Studios, a virtual production firm, after working as a site manager in British Columbia, Canada.

Dana Middleton-Silberstein, a television host and anchor is her other sister. She also serves as the former governor Gary Locke’s press secretary and director of communications. Kennedy earned his diploma in 1971 from Shasta High School located in Redding, California.

At San Diego State University, she pursued her education further specializing in cinema and telecommunications. Kennedy started working at KCST, a local San Diego TV station in her final year. She held a number of positions there including floor director, camera operator, video editor and lastly KCST news production coordinator.
