Carroll was chosen by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 16th overall pick. He made his professional debut with the Arizona League Diamondbacks after signing a $3.7 million contract. On August 8, he was promoted to the Hillsboro Hops after hitting .291 over 31 games with two home runs, 14 RBIs and 16 stolen bases.

Carroll missed all of 2020’s minor league games because the COVID-19 epidemic forced the minor league season to be canceled. Carroll started the 2021 season back in Hillsboro. Carroll, however, suffered a season-ending shoulder surgery after hurting his shoulder on a home run in early May.
