Matt Wright is the “N_ked and Afraid” star. During the series, he got some injury in his leg. In this post, you can find out more about how N_ked and Afraid star Matt Wright hurt his leg and what happened to him on the reality series.
When Did Matt Wright Get Injury?
Matt Wright was among the six competitors on Last One Standing. Given that he had previously completed 215 days of N_ked and Afraid challenges, he was seen as the clear favorite to win. Additionally, he successfully finished a 21-day solo challenge in Africa when he was left without any clothes or supplies.
But when Wright and other contestants of “N_ked and Afraid” were dropped in the Amazon basin of Ecuador and had to live for forty days and nights Matt Wright, a hunting guide hurt his leg badly.
How Did Matt Wright Feel That He Get Injury on His Leg?
They were spread out in the jungle in groups of three, with only the most basic supplies and a small film crew with them. Around day seventeen, Wright started to feel pain in his foot. At first, he thought it was another severe bug bite from all the ones he had gotten in the bush.
The pain got worse, though and he found a blister on his foot. Wright kept going even though it hurt. He kept looking for food and enjoyed his successes. Sadly, the pimple quickly turned into an open sore that made it very hard for him to move.
Wright went to see a doctor in both the United States and Ecuador to get medical help. The doctor from Ecuador thought the patient had a dangerous infection and sent a sample to a lab to be tested. Wright, meanwhile, began taking medicines to deal with the infection and pain.
The lab data, on the other hand confirmed what the doctor had thought: Wright had a rare bacterial infection that ate flesh. Wright’s skin quickly died from the infection, which mostly hurt his toes and foot. Wright had to tap out of the race when he realized how bad things were.
He was rushed from the bush to a hospital three hours away within twenty minutes of getting the test results. When they got to the hospital, they saw that the infection had gone through the skin around some of the toes and into the muscle in some places.
Wright’s foot, leg or even life could have been saved with quick and aggressive care that stopped the damage from getting worse. He stayed in the hospital in Ecuador for seven days getting intense care and treatment. During his time in the hospital, Wright had some tough times.
The hospital staff would clean his foot and then leave the mess on the floor until it could be fixed properly later. His IV bag would empty, letting his blood flow back into it. Because of the machines he was hooked up to, he had to use a bedpan.
He did not miss the irony of being in the hospital for problems with his feet. Wright’s health got better and he was able to go back to the United States. He talked to experts in infectious diseases to make sure his healing was going well.
Even though the strong medicines hurt his liver and kidneys and gave him a rash all over his body for a few weeks, he eventually got better from the infection. In a Facebook post provided below, Matt Wright shared an update on his health.
Wright is still determined, even after all the bad things that happened to him and he has said that he would be happy to be on future seasons of N_ked and Afraid. His unwavering dedication to the show is shown by his drive to overcome the obstacles and his survivalist spirit.
