Chris Young is a pitcher for the Texas Rangers of MLB. He is an American professional baseball player. The 25th of May, 1979 was the day of his birth in Dallas. Young went to Dallas’ Highland Park High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. During the 2000 Major League Baseball draft, he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixteenth round.

The Royals announced Young’s signing to a two-year, $11.75 million contract with a mutual third-year option on December 7, 2015. Young started the 2016 season 1-5 in 7 starts before going on the disabled list from May 12 to 28 with a strained right forearm. Young returned from the disabled list and finished the season having appeared in 34 games (13 starts) with the Royals as a swingman out of the bullpen.
His 6.19 ERA was the best he has ever posted for a full season. He was 3-9 overall. He allowed 10.6 hits per 9 innings, which was also a career-high, and 28 home runs, which was also a career-high.
