What was Dorothy Stratten Death Cause

The murder scenario for Dorothy Stratten was graphic and gruesome, highlighting the unspeakable atrocities that the Playboy Playmate had to go through in her final moments.

Dorothy Stratten was on the up-and-up. She was being compared to Marilyn Monroe, she had just won 1980’s Playboy Playmate of the Year award, and she was having an affair with renowned filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich. All of this must have been very exciting for a Canadian girl from a tiny village who was found working at a Dairy Queen. Her age was only 20 at the time.

What was Dorothy Stratten Death Cause?

She was only 20 years old when she was killed by her estranged husband and manager, Paul Snider, shortly after starring in the film Galaxina. After killing Stratten, Snider took his own life.

Dorothy was named 1980’s “Playmate of the Year.” Also at this period, she co-starred with Audrey Hepburn in the film They All Laughed (1981). Peter Bogdanovich, who directed the film, fell in love with the model when he met her earlier that year.

Telling Fox News in 2017, “I loved her dearly and deeply,” he meant every word. “She was kind of the inspiration for the film in a funny way.”

Dorothy and Paul’s marriage was so troubled that in June of 1980, she asked for a divorce from both Paul and physically. Paul apparently engaged a private investigator to investigate her claims of having an affair with the Oscar-winning director.

On August 14, 1980, things reached a boiling point. Dorothy reportedly met with Paul to iron out the divorce’s last few details, according to many sources. According to additional reports Paul r*ped the woman before shooting her to death with a recently acquired shotgun. Soon after the murder, he took his own life.

Snider and Dorothy Stratten: A Life Together

Paul Snider and his companion dined at a Dairy Queen in East Vancouver sometime about 1978. Dorothy Hoogstraten manned the counter. She stood at a tall, slender, blonde, and stunning. She accepted his advances as a timid young woman ready to come out of her shell and he complimented her beauty.

At 18, Hoogstraten had only one boyfriend despite her attractiveness. It was Snider’s intention to alter that. Her buddy recounted that Snider had said, “That girl could make me a lot of money,” and that indeed she had done so, albeit temporarily.

A man of strength in Dorothy’s eyes was Paul Snider. By the time they met, he was already nine years past her age. He had street smarts, and she had the beauty of the girl next door despite a troubled upbringing (her father had abandoned the family when she was young, and finances were tight).
