Coletrain Music Academy shared updates on their Facebook account that on Sunday, October 22, at 1 p.m. at Riverside Park in Salida, there will be a celebration of her life event where the community will come together to remember and honor Bonnie’s extraordinary life. At 4 p.m., there will be a reception at the Highside.

Tears will be shed for the passing of a lively person and the air will be filled with music as a fitting homage to the woman who devoted her entire life to the arts.

The loss of Bonnie has left a permanent scar on the hearts of those who had the good fortune to know her. Bonnie was more than simply a music teacher at Coletrain Music Academy (CMA); she was also an incredible adventurer, a dedicated part of her community and a remarkable force of nature.

Her abrupt departure has rocked the small village, leaving friends, family and everyone else in deep shock and sorrow. Bonnie served as a mentor to several young artists at CMA in addition to teaching. She was a multi-instrumentalist, poet, singer, composer, farmer and fearless explorer with a distinctive voice.

Her commitment went beyond the realm of music; she risked her life while working as an EMT, first for Teller County and then for Eagle County. Her dedication to helping others won her the admiration and respect of her coworkers and those she assisted.

Bonnie received a full escort from Leadville to Denver on her final voyage which was a moving homage to her commitment and bravery. Law police, fire departments and EMS joined forces to pay tribute to her along the I-70 highway.

It was a potent illustration of the positive influence she had on her neighborhood and of her profound gratitude for her unselfish devotion. She lived life to the fullest, tackling both joys and difficulties with an unbounded energy.
