American-born Josh Jung entered the world on February 12, 1998, in San Antonio. While attending MacArthur High School in San Antonio, he excelled in baseball to the point where he was selected the District 26-6A Most Valuable Player as a senior.
He went on to play baseball at Texas Tech University after graduating from high school. While attending Texas Tech, Josh Jung developed into a top performer in the Big 12 Conference. He was named the Big 12’s 2019 Player of the Year after being named to the All-Big 12 team three times. His junior year batting stats were as follows BA, 11 HR, 53 RBI.

On February 12, 1998, Josh Jung was born to Jeff Jung and Mary Jung in San Antonio, Texas, where he grew up. His younger sibling, Jace Jung, was just picked up by the MLB’s Detroit Tigers.
Jeff Jung earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from UT Austin, where he also played college football. In addition, he is a math teacher and baseball coach for the Northeast Independent School District, and he utilizes Twitter, where he occasionally shares updates about his family.

What are Josh Jung’s Long-Term Goals in the MLB?
Josh Jung was a star baseball player for the Texas Tech Red Raiders during his collegiate career. The Texas Rangers picked him up in the first round of the MLB Draft this year, with the eighth overall pick. Since the minor league season was canceled in 2020, Jung only got to play in the minors in 2019 and 2021. To the best of my recollection, he had not yet appeared in the Majors at the time my research ended.
How will Josh Jung Fit into the Rangers’ Lineup?
Jung was a two-time All-American at Texas Tech University and the 2019 Big 12 Conference Player of the Year. He played college baseball for the United States of America in 2018. Jung, in his first year as a professional, was picked to play in the MLB Futures Game and was awarded the Texas League Player of the Month for June 2021.
