American politician, businessman, and diplomat Jon Huntsman Jr. has held a number of prominent posts during the course of his career. He was born in Redwood City, California, on March 26, 1960, but spent much of his childhood in Utah. He got his undergraduate education at Penn and his graduate education in international politics at Utah.
Before becoming governor of Utah, Huntsman worked as a presidential assistant in the Reagan administration. After that, he worked under President George H.W. Bush as the U.S. ambassador to Singapore and as the deputy assistant secretary of commerce for Asia.

Huntsman was first elected governor of Utah in 2004, and he was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2008 (by a margin of 77%). Huntsman served as the U.S. ambassador to China under President Obama from 2009 until 2011.
