At the beginning of October 13, AMC cinemas in the United States, Canada and Mexico screened “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film”.
Taylor Swift was very happy when she announced her movie on Instagram in a post with a caption, “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon.”
How Much Did Taylor Swift’s Concert Film Draw From Last-Minute Previews?
Swift fans only had eight hours to buy tickets for Thursday, October 12 night’s sneak peeks of her The Eras Tour concert film. Sales of tickets totaled $2.8 million as a consequence.
The fact that the number is low compared to the success of Marvel, DC and Star Wars blockbusters is indicative of the fact that the movie wasn’t initially intended for a release.
In reality, early screenings weren’t announced to the public until late Wednesday, October 11 night and tickets for the 6 p.m. showings weren’t on sale until 10 a.m. local time on Thursday, October 12. Box office experts do not believe that Swift’s movie will be successful based on its modest Thursday, Oct.12 night take.
Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore said:
“A storm is brewing, The 11th hour announcement of the availability of Thursday night pre-shows produced an early box office number that belies the true potential for the film. Pre-sales and incredible fan enthusiasm portend a blockbuster style weekend.”
Around 4.8M Swifties or people went to see Eras Tour this weekend having paid an average of $20.75 for a ticket. Shawn Robbins, chief analyst said:
“It’s a wild one to try and project, Everything comes down to how much walk-up business she can bring in outside her dedicated fans who already bought tickets weeks ago, on top of the average ticket price.”
According to a tweet from the film’s Twitter account, it was revealed that Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ Concert Film earned a whopping $97M in the US on opening weekend! The biggest ever for a concert film in history!

Swift’s movie is set to open in about 3,850 theaters which would make it the most widely shown live movie in the United States.
Comscore data shows that it will have the biggest opening weekend for a concert movie ever beating Miley Cyrus’ “Best of Both Worlds Concert” from 2008, which made $31.1 million in its first weekend in theaters.
As of yet Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ movie opens to $128 million globally breaking the record for a concert film previously set by ‘Michael Jackson’s This Is It’ in 2009 ($74.3M), according to a tweet provided below.

It will be the highest-grossing concert movie ever if it makes more than $263 million worldwide during its short run in theaters, which is what many box office experts think it will do.
This year, average ticket prices are more than 40% higher than usual, which helps Swift do well at the box office. Standard formats have ticket costs that start at $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for children. The numbers show the year Swift was born and her lucky number, 13.
It costs more to get into movies in expensive formats like IMAX and Dolby. Also, concession sales at movie theaters are likely to go up a lot.
