Erica Campbell, on “The Tamron Hall Show,” Discusses her Decision to Forgive her Cheating Husband
Erica Campbell, one half of the Grammy-winning gospel group Mary Mary, recently spoke about how forgiveness helped rescue her marriage on The Tamron Hall Show.
Erica, who married her producer Warryn Campbell in May 2001, claims her husband’s infidelity crushed her heart. “He told me he had been unfaithful and that it had been years back,” Erica reveals. He reasoned that everything would be OK if he merely paused and continued forward. But he claimed he was restless and at peace neither.
Before his confession, Erica claims she had a hunch something was off but couldn’t put her finger on it. She claims that after discovering the affair, things became “dark” and she was ready to file for divorce. But then she started considering their vow before God and the things that were driving him to sin.

“I wondered to myself, ‘Is he a mistake or did he make a mistake?’ And I think he’s a decent man who just messed up,” Campbell told the program.
The Campbells were able to mend their relationship after consulting with their bishop and participating in marriage counseling. Erica was able to identify problematic tendencies in their relationship, but it wasn’t simple. Once, she was “consumed with work” and emotionally distant from her husband.
Things were rough, but they seem to be turning around now. “We’ve reached the point where we can be open with one another…we’re in a fantastic place right now.”
It’s not the first time they’ve been open about their relationship. In September 2017, Warryn revealed that his lover became pregnant during an appearance on the Black Love series on the OWN Network. He was profoundly affected by the gravity of the situation, even though she ultimately opted not to retain the kid. “I was being selfish because I wanted things to change but wanted [my wife] to do the changing,” he says in the video.
