In Golden Bachelor, this is Joan Vassos. Joan has moved on from the loss of her husband and is eager to find love again. Who was her ex-husband, if anyone? What is the total number of her brood? This bio has all that information and more. Everything was clarified for us.
Joan Vassos Ex-Husband
Joan Vassos was married to John Vassos, who has since passed away. Reports say their marriage lasted 32 years. John, a graduate of Salisbury University, was born to Elaine (nee Vassos) and the late Nicholas Vassos on November 27, 1961, in Washington, DC. He ran CapX Solutions and BCE Corporation, both of which he founded.
John was a longtime member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and he also had deep ties to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, Maryland. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, going to the beach, playing and instructing football.
John spent many days with his “Greek uncles” playing cards, and the stories about who cheated the most are still debated today. They even played cards in the confined infusion rooms, which spooked the medical staff at Sibley while he fought cancer. John lost his two-year fight with pancreatic cancer on January 18, 2021, at the age of 59.
Katina Vassos of Washington, DC, his sister, also survives him. Since her unexpected departure, Bachelor Nation has been wondering why Joan left The Golden Bachelor and what became of her when she left the Bachelor Mansion. Joan’s departure from The Golden Bachelor was for a much more dramatic reason than was presented on the show.

Why did Joan Decide to Leave The Golden Bachelor?
In Season 1, Episode 3, Joan departed The Golden Bachelor after receiving a text from a relative and explaining to Gerry that she had to go because of some bad news regarding her newborn baby. It wasn’t like your typical delivery at all. There are problems. Joan noted in an honest interview, “Even if everything worked out, you still need your mom.” My loved ones come first in my life. Once you have children, you will always be a mother, no matter how old they get. There is nothing more vital.
Gerry expressed his regret to Joan about her departure, saying he was “disappointed” but understood. I’m glad we were able to talk things out like we did; nonetheless, we do share a moral compass, he stated. “And the right thing to do is sometimes the hardest.”
Take a look at the below post she shared about Gerry:
She continued, “My heart maybe got a little fix from Gerry,” Joan said in her candid interview. Because of the invisibility that comes with age, he has been a great aid along the way. People have stopped recognizing you. You don’t have the same impact as you did when you were younger. After that, Joan let everyone else in the cast know. “My family needs me,” she pleaded. You’ve got me wishing I could tag along for the whole ride.
