Zachery In Brampton, Ontario, at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School, Michael Pop began his baseball career. The Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the 23rd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft, but he ultimately chose not to play for them. Instead, he enrolled at the University of Kentucky to play college baseball. In 2016, he honed his skills on the baseball diamond while playing for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League throughout the summer.

Pop was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed with them, and in his first professional appearance, he threw five innings of shutout baseball for the Arizona League Dodgers. In 2018, Pop advanced by playing for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes instead of the Great Lakes Loons.
In July of 2018, Pop’s adventure took another turn as he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Manny Machado. In 2018, he was a member of the Bowie Baysox and posted a stellar 1.53 ERA. Unfortunately, his 2019 season was cut short by an injury that required Tommy John surgery. He was unable to play in 2020 because of the widespread spread of COVID-19.
