Wolfley has deep roots at West Virginia University (WVU) and in the football community. Dale was a star football player for West Virginia University in the late ’80s. In the late 2000s, he made the switch to coaching and became the director of player personnel for West Virginia University under Bill Stewart.

During his five years at WVU, Dale was an integral member of the 1988 team that went undefeated in the regular season. His family was huge football fans; his brother Ron also played for West Virginia University and the National Football League. Craig, another sibling, also enjoyed professional football success.
Dale’s sons Stone and Maverick both played collegiate football, continuing a family heritage. Dale had a lifelong love for the Mountain State and his alma mater. He was proud to have attended and played football for West Virginia University, and he always made time to greet fellow Mountaineers at annual reunions. Those who mourn his loss do so because of the lasting impact he had in West Virginia and the football world.
